RVA Fashion Week: Designer Showcase

Hey all-

Yes, it's another RVA Fashion Week post, get excited! The finale show this year was held at Plant Zero, which is a much larger venue than last year's show. The show was fantastic & I thoroughly enjoyed every second of it. So much so that I forgot I'm a blogger & should be taking photos, that I just sat back & took in the show. For a complete list of the designers, head over to the RVA Fashion Week page. Hope you like what few photos I actually manage to snap.

The White Jeans Debate Inspired By Courtney Kerr

Hey all-

It's Friday! How has your week been? Mine has not nearly been up to par compared to last week- RVA Fashion Week. Last Thursday, I attended a show featuring local boutiques. It was so much fun. I met some pretty amazing people & had a really good time. It's so comforting to be around so many well dressed people who share the same passion for fashion as me.

When brainstorming the perfect outfit, I look to none other than my fashion muse, Miss Courtney Kerr. I am so thrilled that she updates her blog, What Courtney Wore often. It's the perfect place to draw inspo. I wanted to be fashionable (afterall I was attending a show), but also wear pieces I currently owned. I saw her post, The White Jeans Debate (yep, stole her title for my post) & I knew this was the outfit I needed to recreate. I had all the correct items- white blazer, white jeans, chambray button down, statement necklace, sparkly heels, sunnies & Louis Vuitton. I actually own a pair of pumps similar to Courtney's, but I couldn't resist wearing these gold gems- I've only worn them once in a year! What are your thoughts on white denim? How do you think my outfit turned out?

Work Outfits from the Back Room

Hello readers,

I know I've mentioned before that for work, I have to wear black, white and gray. I decided I'd show you a few outfits I've worn to work. Over the few months I've been with this company, I've aquired a closet full of these boring lovely colors. I try to be as fashionable as possible, butI'm finding that a lot of cute options just simply don't exist in these colors. If you have any suggestions of store that carry ruffley, flowy, extra feminie basics, please let me know!

Cardi: Forever 21
Shirt: American Eagle
Pants: Target
Boots: Bamboo
Necklace: Charlotte Russe
Watch: Michael Kors
Bracelet: H&M

Dress, Scarf, Boots: Target
Watch: Micahel Kors
(Obvs I wore this before Fall kicked in)

Blouse, Pants, Bootd: Target
Watch: Micahel Kors
(Love the little faux leather stripe on these pants!)

As I'm typing these outfit details, I am noticing I get a lot of my work clothes from Target. Hmm, I guess that's okay. I'm definitely saving money by not having to buy stuffy office clothes!

How do you spice up a black/white/gray combo?! Any suggestions?!

****Sorry for these mirror pictures, but aisde from living alone, I generally cover my store alone too. I really need to invest in a tripod!

Currently Coveting: Fall 2012

Hello readers!

There's so many amzing trends this season that I'm dying to try. I've compiled a list of the pieces I'm coveting & want in my closet.

Oxblood & Leather: These pants combine two of this season's trends- oxblood & leather. These wine colored faux leather pants can be found at H&M. Hello affordability! I've seen a few bloggers rocking these & they sem to fit very well. I can't wait to try these!
H&M, $34.95

Peplum: This is one trend I haven't tried yet. This particular top would be a perfect addition to my warbdrobe. For work, I'm required to wear nuetrals- black, white, gray- making this blouse a given. It's also sold at H&M.

H&M, $19.95

STUDDED LOAFERS: I've never been too keen on loafers, but there's something about them being adorned in studs that makes me crave them. Plus, who doesn't need a pair of black flats?! I saw this pair at ZooShoo.com. I've orderd a few pair of shoes from the site before, so I feel confident in purchasing this pair of studded beauties.
POSH Allure, Zoo Shoo, $44.90

Other things I'm on the search for:
Gold-plated bracelets because I want to have an arm party.
A large black handbag with shoulder straps & gold hardware.
Black leather jacket.
Shoes!

What trends are you dying to try?!

Prints for Summer

I wore this dress a couple of weeks ago to run errands. Yes, I get dressed up to do mundane tasks. This day, I was taking the dogs to the groomer's, buying groceries & having lunch with my mom.

I absolutely love the print & colors of this dress, but the little cutout in the back is my gave feature. I got this dress from Peebles a while back when I was visiting my hometown. I can't get enough of it! I plan to wear it with wedges the next time I put it on.

We ate lunch at Kona Grill, have any of you eaten here?! It's so delicious & I recommend trying it! Visit the web site: www.konagrill.com/

New: H&M & Peebles

Before you complain to me about my lack of outfit posts, I'd like to apologize. I've been extremely busy & actually have been doing waaaay more shopping than snapping photos. I want to share with you a few of the purchases I've been making lately.

This first photo is of some things I picked up at H&M today. I got this navy dress to wear to work. While I am free to wear what I choose, the policy is to wear lots of neutrals. Since I've grown tired of boring black, I've strayed towards navy as my go-to shade. I've also been wanting some statement jewelry. While I don't quite have the budget for any Kate Spade pieces, I think these will suffice... For now anyway. I got these for a mere $42, which is a steal. I can always count on H&M to keep a little money in my wallet.

This second photo is from a recent trip to Peebles with my mama. She always buys me something when I'm home (can't complain one bit). I've been wanting a pair of white skinny jeans for some time now & couldn't resist settling for this pair (who wants to spend tons on J Brands?!). They fit great & aren't too tight. They are made by A. Byer. Naturally, I need a blouse to pair with these pants. I saw this cute cobalt blue tank, bit it wasn't in my size, so I went to my new staple color- NAVY. The two pair nicely, but I will probably wear a colorful blouse with these pants; well outside of work that is. The lacy blouse is made by a company called Heart Soul (http://heartsoulusa.com). The rainbow colored dress is Calvin Klein. I got this when I was unaware of the neutral dress code at work. Nonetheless, it's a cute dress. I got it for $80, which is a great price considering I saw it today at Dillard's for $118.

I also bought some summer dresses, Jessica Simpson black wedges & lots of Nike Dri-Fit for the gym, but I'll spare you those pics. Hopefully, the dresses & wedges will appear in my next outfit posts.

What do you think about my recent shopping trips & purchases?! What would you pair with the white pants?!

Graduation Outfit

My favorite part about graduation is obviously the DRESS. Granted I was not graduating this year (because I did so 3 years ago), but my brother graduated. I took this as an opportunity to treat myself to a new dress. I decided to get something a little special, so I headed to Michael Kors. I love this new print & it comes in navy & tan. Michelle Obama gave the speech at Virginia Tech's graduation. I'm not going to lie, I was a little disappointed she wore a Tech robe. I was looking forward to what she'd be wearing. What did you wear to graduation this year?!

Dress & Watch: Michael Kors
Blazer: H&M
Sandals: Old Navy
Sunnies: Dior
Purse: Kate Spade
